Ore

Our ore is delivered FOB Santo Tomas de Castillas`- Puerto Barrios (Guatemala). Our ore from Guatemala contains both high nickel and high iron, which is unusual for this type of ore (saprolite profile). This composition with relatively high iron content, high magnesium and calcium oxides combined with a relatively low silica content (high basicity) allows significant decrease of your specific power consumption. The port facilities of Tomas de Castillas, Atlantic side of Guatemala, are modern and allow a loading rate of 12 000 tons per day. The draft of the port allows to receive vessels of class up to 35 000 tons (handy size class). We have capacity to ship up to 100 000 tons/month.

Quality Control Standard

Our quality control is based on the standard JIS8109 ‘Method for sampling and method for determination of moisture content of garnierite nickel ore’. This quality control ensures that the quality of the ore you receive complies to announced specifications.

Slag

Slag is a by-product of the ore-smelting process. There are two types, namely electro slag and converter slag, each of which can be used in various applications, such as an insulation material, as an abrasive, or in the construction of roads. It is also widely utilized in the cement industry which makes it particularly useful. Both types of slag are produced at NewCo Ferronikeli in Drenas. Our Slags are registered under REACH regulation.

Sandblasting / High density submarine oil and gas pipe coating aggregate / Additional iron to clinker (Substituting the raw material in cement industries with our slag allows deduction of the ton of CO2 that plants would otherwise have accounted in their carbon balance) / Railway ballast / High strength concrete / Beach aggregate / Granular base for road construction.

Fe-Ni Granules 16% to 19% Ni

Our ferronickel is in granulated form and is continuously added into converters and electric furnaces. Each kg of FeNi nickel is providing approximately 5 to 6 kg of clean iron. The addition of virgin iron has big advantages to steelworks. The cooling effect in stainless steel process is significantly low and much lower than stainless steel scrap or other nickel forms.

Physical Properties

FeNi granules are available in shot form:

Grain size: approx. 3 - 40 mm (95%)

Bulk density: 3.2 - 3.8 t/m3

Angle of repose: 40 - 50?

Granules are free from any source of radiation Residual humidity: 0.2% max

The material shall be as free as possible from surface contaminants such as slag, sand, etc.

Packaging & Handling

Packaging & Handling Our ferronickel is developed for use in automatic handling and storage equipment. It is supplied in bulk in containers, big-bags in containers (2 tons), or in bulk. It can be added continuously and in exact quantities to all types of equipment in steelworks. Our ferronickel granules can be handled by electro-magnets, buckets, belt conveyors, vibrating conveyors and bucket conveyors. Owing to the physical properties of granules, handling and cleaning out is without loss or pollution of the product. Therefore the cost handling is minimal. Specifications

FeNi ferronickel is in granulated form and is continuously added into converters and electric furnaces. Each kg of FeNi nickel is providing approximately 4 to 5 kg of clean iron. The addition of virgin iron has big advantages to steelworks. The cooling effect in stainless steel process is significantly low and much lower than stainless steel scrap or other nickel forms. Because of its specific chemical characteristics, that is the low carbon content, the contained virgin iron and nickel content in the range of 17.25%, the FeNi ferronickel ranks among the best in the world.
