NewCo Ferronikeli resumed production on June 21, 2023, following a nearly two-year halt caused by the rapid increase of power prices in the European and global markets towards the end of 2021.
From 2022, NewCo Ferronikeli found shelter under the umbrella of the international conglomerate YILDIRIM Group. YILDIRIM’s engineers in cooperation with those of NewCo Ferronikeli, shortly came up with a new plan to return to production despite global volatility in the electricity and metal markets.
Mr.Cemil Acar, the company's General Director, stated in front of many attendees at the opening ceremony that new strategic investments are planned in the future to increase production and employment capacities, thus increasing contributions to the community as well as the country's economy.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mehmet Şevket Erol, COO of YILMADEN Holding, the division of the YILDIRIM Group for metals and metallurgy, stated that the Balkans in general are of great importance to the YILDIRIM Group, which operates in 56 countries and employs 25 thousand people directly.
Mr. Şevket Erol also underlined the group's objectives for energy projects in Kosovo and Albania, in addition to fresh investments in the company. "Whether in Albania or Kosovo, we are ready to immediately start investments in the field of energy", he stated.
NewCo Ferronikeli presently employs around 1,000 thousand employees directly and another 1,000 thousand through several contractors with whom the company cooperates in various sectors.
